Modern Warfare 2’s online multiplayer was incredibly influential as it saw the rise of 360 no-scoping, trickshots, and the true rise of video games on the YouTube scene. There’s been a lot of back and forth over the state of the game, but now, thanks to a CoD leak, it appears as though it won’t be happening after all. Modern Warfare 2 had its campaign remastered in 2020, and it was expected that the online portion of the game would also be getting similar treatment. It featured a spruced up, shinier-looking campaign, and a full recreation of the game’s groundbreaking multiplayer component.

It was back in 2016 that Raven Software faithfully remastered the historic FPS title Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. According to a leaker, the long-awaited Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer remaster has been canceled and won’t be following in the footsteps of CoD 4 Remastered.
