“Sophisticated Games commissioned The One Ring RPG from Francesco Nepitello back in 2008. People still have the books they produced for both lines – no reason to stop running and playing with them.Īnd there may be something else brewing. With that being said, Cubicle 7 are still helming the roleplaying games for Warhammer Fantasy, Age Of Sigmar, Warhammer 40,000, Doctor Who and Lone Wolf so there is still a lot to watch out for.ĭid you get to tinker with either of these roleplaying games? If you pre-order any of the line for either game you can find out more about the state of affairs HERE and look at getting refunds and the like from them. Sadly, because an agreement couldn't be reached with Sophisticated Games it looks like we're going to be losing these fascinating labours of love from the Cubicle 7 team. Their array of Region Guides were a lot of fun to read through and good for someone who loves Middle-earth, offering up a range of fascinating quests for you to undertake and characters to meet. I was a big fan of the Adventures In Middle-earth range which took the 5E rules and tweaked them to fit the setting. Playing as genuinely good (or at least well-meaning) players was a fascinating edge and they included lots of very Tolkienesque rules in the mix for journeying, meeting unexpected guests and taking downtime to develop as characters. These amazing roleplaying games which used their own unique system and adapted the 5th Edition D&D rules were a great window into the world of Middle-earth and they took a nice alternative take on the adventuring party and their objectives.

In a bit of really disappointing news, it turns out that Cubicle 7 are not going to be able to progress with both their Adventures In Middle-earth and The One Ring Roleplaying Games which have captured the imaginations of many over the years, especially with The One Ring so close to getting a second edition in 2020!
